Examination Text | Elizabeth Alderton aged 28 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. Mary le Bone in the County of Middlesex upon her oath saith that she is the widow of William Alderton (who died last May) to whom she was married at the Fleet 11 years ago, that her said husband before his intermarriage (and while single) was a yearly hired servant in the capacity of an Hosler to Mr Gilder at the Bell in Dirty Lane in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of two years at the yearly wages of 10 pounds diet and lodging, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together after he quitted the said Mr Gilder's service, nor hath she this Examinant since her said husband's death, that she hath one child living by her said husband to wit William aged near five years now with this Examinant.
