Examination TextJames Cope aged 14 years and upwards upon his oath saith that he was born in a house known by the sign of the St Luke's Head in Mercer Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields, that he never was bound an apprentice nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that his father and mother are both dead, that he cannot tell where his father was born, nor does he know anything of his settlement. Sworn the 11th Day of November 1762 before Benjamin Cox.
