| Examination Text | The Examination of Mary Adams opposite the George Inn in Hedge Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken upon oath this fifth day of January 1763. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 22 years of age, that she never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Blunt near Charing Cross in the parish aforesaid for the space of three years at the yearly wages of 3 pounds for the first 2 years and 4 pounds for the last year diet and lodging, quitted the same about five months ago, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since, And this Examinant further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish, and that Joseph Hoskins a Servant late at the said Mr Blunt's house, but now gone to Ireland, did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant off, and that he the said Joseph Hoskins is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
