Examination TextFrancis Ventris aged 63 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of [St.] George Hanover Square within the liberty of Westminster upon his oath saith that he is a Baker by trade, that he was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to John Garret a Baker in that part of Little St Martin's Lane which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid, and there served about four years and then his master broke and gave this Examinant up his indenture, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since he quitted his service aforesaid, that he was married to his present wife Sarah about 42 years ago at the ffleet, now with this Examinant. Sworn the 21st Day of January 1763 before Benjamin Cox.
