This Indenture witnesseth that Edward Clarke< no role > and Hugh Mills< no role > Church
wardens William Bine< no role > Charles Prattin< no role > William Dod< no role > and Edward Walter< no role >
overseers of the poor of the parish of St. Clement Danes in the County of Middx
with the assent of Hugh Chamberlen< no role > and Leonard Esqrs : Justices of
the peace for the said County and for the City and Liberties of Westmr : according
to the Statute in that case made and provided of have put Phillis Hillman< no role > a
poor parish child an apprentice to Letitia Rolfe< no role > wife of William Rolfe< no role > of the parish of St: Andrews
Holborne Haberdasher of Hatts and with him and his wife to dwell and serve
after the manner of an apprentice from the day of the date hereof unto the full
end and terme of Seaven yeares fully to be compleat and ended Dureing all
which terme wee the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the poore doe order
and appoint (with the aforesaid assent) that the said Phillis Hilman well and
faithfully shall serve their said Mar: and Mrs: their secretts keep their lawfull
comands every where gladly do hurt to them the shall not doe nor cause it to
be don by others but prevent it if the may or can Tavernes or Alehouses the
shall not frequent at Cards Dire or any other unlawfull Game she shall not
play Fornicacon she shall not comitt And the said William Rolfe< no role > and his
wife shall teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed the sd
apprentice in Houswifry and Sun petrtsy according to their best Bill and knowledge And shall
give and find to their said Apprentice sufficient meat drinck washing lodging
linnen apparrell and all other necessaryes meet and convenient for such an apprentice
during the said terme of Seaven yeares and for the true performance of all ye
said Articles the said parties bind themselves each to the other by these Prsents
In witness whereof the said parties have hereunto interchangeably set their
hands and Seales the tenth day of June Anno Dui 1693 and in the
Fifth year of their Maties Reigne.
