Examination Text | Mary Nichols aged 49 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of John Nichols who died 16 years ago to whom she was married at the ffleet about 25 years ago, that her said husband was a Smith by trade and lived in and rented an house in Burleigh Court in Burleigh Street in the Parish aforesaid for the space of three years at the yearly rent of 11 pounds besides taxes, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes after his quitting the aforesaid house, nor hath she this Examinant nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the said husband's death. Sworn the 19th Day of June 1762 before Benjamin Cox. |
