Wee the said Justices (being the Major part of the Justices of the
peace of the said County of Middx) being fully satisyed of the
integrity and ability of Joshua Walker< no role > of the parish of St. Giles
in the Fields in the said County Gent pursuant to and by Vertue
of Letters patent granted by his late Maty. King James the First
have and by these presents Doe alert choose nominate and appoint
the said Joshua Walker< no role > to be Keeper of the said prison called
New prison To have hold execute and enjoy the said Office
place or employment of Keeper of the said prison and the
dwelling house Orchard and Garden there and other the
appurtenances and all profits comodities and emoluments
there unto due and of right appertaining together with such
Fees only for keeping detaining or releasing of any person or
persons comitted or to be comitted to his custody as Keeper of the
said prison as are already or shall be hereafter legally ascertained
limitted or appointed by Order of the Justices of the peace for the
said County in their General Quarter Sessions Assembled or to be
assembled for so long time only as the Justices of the peace of the
said County or the Major part of them shall think fit and no longer
(the said Joshua Walker< no role > now declaring himself content to
accept such Fees as aforesaid) Upon Condicon nevertheless
that he the said Joshua Walker< no role > do dureing the time he shall
continue Keeper of the said prison keep his constant resident
and habitation at the said prison, and well and honestly
demean himself in the said Office place or employment of
Keeper , and execute the same in his own person and not by
Deputy and safely keep all such prisoners as shall from time
to time be comitted to his Custody, untill they shall be Discharged
by due course of Law And also that the said Joshua Walker< no role > do
and shall yearly dureing the time he shall be and continue
Keeper of the said prison pay the yearly Sume of thirty pounds
of Lawful mony of Great Britain in manner following (vizt.)
ten pounds P Anum part thereof unto the Matron of the house
of Correction at Clerkenwell in the said County for the time
being untill further Order of the Court of General or Quarter
Sessions of the peace for the said County to the contrary for and
towards her support and maintenance by Quarterly payments
(to witt) at Midsummer, Michmas, Christmas and Lady day by equal portions the
first payment thereof to be made at Midsumer next And also
the Sume of twenty pounds P Anum residue of the said Sume
of thirty pounds P Anum to the Clerke of the peace of the said
County for the time being or his Deputy by Quarterly payments
(to witt) at Midsumer, Michmas Christmas and Lady day
Aforesaid by equal portions (the first payment thereof to be
also made at Midsumer next) to be applyed as the Court of
