Mr. president at a Court acquainted the artsmasters that
notwithstanding the frequent admonitions to them to keep their
apprentices at home on holydays yet there were reflections on the
apprentices for Comitting disorders in the Streets and directed the
Order of the fourth of Novemr. to be read and gave them Strict Charge
to keep their apprentices at work on Holydays and not Suffer them
to go out the Beadle and Porters man had the like Orders and
the Boys were directed to keep within their Masters appartments
the 28th & 29th. of May and not one to be out of the hospital and were
told they Should be watcht and if any appeared in the Streets they
would not only endanger their own lives but the over throwing the
Charity of the hospital That ye 27th of July 1716 the Court
being informed that one Daniel Vaughan< no role > who had been an apprentice
in the hospital who was killed in the Riott at Salisbury Court was
that night to be buried It was Ordered That if any apprentice
appeared at that funeral he should be Stript and turned out and
whoever Should be found in any Riot or Tumult Should not only be
deprived of the benefitt of ye Charity of the hospital but Should be
imediately Stript Corrected and turned out of the house And the
Artsmasters Beadles and apprentices were called in and acquainted
with the Order That the Second of Augt. 1716. Complaint was
made that on Harrison an Apprentice to Robert Bower< no role > being
refused by the Beadles to go out the night Vaughan was buried
between Nine & ten at night the said Bower against the Express
Orders turned the key and Let him out It was Referred to a
Comee to Consider of the said Complaint who ye 31st. of Augt.
following Reported they had considered the Complaint and were of
opinion that the said Bower for his Contempt Should be expe [..]
and turned out of the hospital That altho Bower the 12th of Octor. 1716
petitioned to be Restored after referring that petition to a Comee
both the Comee and Court refused to restore him and the 4th of Janry
1716 Ordered [..] ments to be brought to turn him out of his
house which was done accordingly and ye 2d. of Novemr. 1716
