Examination TextMary Shotton aged 20 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the parish St Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex upon her oath saith that she is the widow of John Shotton (who died near 12 years ago) to whom she was married at the Fleet about 18 years ago, that her said husband was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Mr Trishoff a Lapidary in that part of Bear Street which is in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served all the said term as her said husband hath informed this Examinant, that her husband never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together after the expiration of his said apprenticeship to this Examinant's knowledge, that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband. Sworn the third Day of October 1770 before Peter Planck.
