Examination TextElizabeth Gane aged 62 years removed from the precinct of the Savoy saith she is the widow of Lewis Gane (who has been dead four years), that she was married to him at St Martin's Church 39 years ago, that he was born in France and came thence when a child, that he never kept any house rented 10 pounds per ann. paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant, that when she married him she was a single woman and was a yearly hired servant to one Mr French, Woollen Draper who lived at the corner of Panton Street in the Haymarket in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields whom she there served an entire year before she married about eight years afterwards, that she had 5 pounds per ann. wages diet and lodging, that she left that service about 25 years ago and hath not kept any house rented 10 pounds per ann. paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant afterwards, that she hath one son and one daughter by her said husband to wit Samuel aged 23 years who was never bound apprentice, is now at Sea, and Mary aged 25 years, wife of one Gabriel Elliot who is a servant to one Mr Jonson, a Bookseller in the Strand. Sworn the 27th Day of September 1739 before me Val Hilder.
