Examination TextAnn Mathews aged near 23 years in the workhouse of saith she is the wife of Thomas Mathews (who went to sea the eighth day of March last on board the Romney man of war but since changed to some other ship), that she was married to him at the sign of the Bull in the Fleet on the 11th Day of January last, that he never was bound an apprentice as she ever heard, knows not where he was born, that he was a yearly hired servant to one Mr Bedsworth who kept a milk cellar at Charing Cross and dealt in horses which he and the Lord Berkley's Porter kept in stables in Hedge Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields, whom he there served two years and laid all the time in the stables in Hedge Lane aforesaid, that he had 4 pounds by the year wages diet and lodging, that he quitted that service six years ago and hath not kept any house rented 10 pounds per ann. paid any parish taxes or been a yearly hired servant since.
