Examination TextMargaret Ware aged 23 years in the workhouse saith that she never was married, that she was bound an apprentice by indenture for seven years to one Eleanor Butler, a Mantua Maker who then lived in Spur Alley in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that she there served her some short time and then her mistress removed into the King on Horseback at Charing Cross and there served her upwards of two years, and then her mistress removed into one Mrs Coumbes who kept a Butcher Shop and a Chandler Shop near the George Tavern at Charing Cross aforesaid and there served her some short time where her time expired which was in the year 1733, and that she never kept a house rented 10 pounds by the year or paid any parish taxes, but that after the expiration of her apprenticeship she was a yearly hired servant to one John Blackhall who kept the Cork and Bottle alehouse opposite the Meuse at Charing Cross, who during the time she served him removed from thence into Warwick Street and from thence to Charles Court in the Strand and there died and that she served him at the said three places the space of two years and never lived with him elsewhere, and that she had 3 pounds by the year wages diet and lodging and never live the year in any other service.
