The Examination of Jno. Lewis< no role > living in ye. Parish
of St. Clement Danes in ye. County of Middx Taken
the 17th. Day of Febry 1740 Who upon his Oath saith
that about 10 Years ago he lived with one Mrs. Francis
in Clare Markett in the sd. Parish of St. Clemt. Danes
Fishmonger for the space of 3 Years at ye. Yearly
Wages of £12, And this Examint. further on his Oath
saith yt. after he left Mrs. Francis's service he went &
lived with one Mr. Fortescue in the Parish of St. Giles in ye.
Fields in ye. same County Fishmonger but did not at
such his comeing make any agreemt. as to what
Wages he shd. have or how long he shd. stay but left
ye. same entirely to his sd. Master who paid him
after ye. rate of £14 a Year Meat Drink Washing & Lodging
& this Examint. continued to live with ye. sd. Mr.
Fortescue on ye. sd. Condicons for one Year & upwards
And hath not since yt. time Rented £10 a Year pd. Parish
Taxes lived with any other Person as a Yearly hired Servt.
for ye. space of one Year or otherwise gained a
Settlemt. in any other place to his knowledge or beleife
