The Examination of Elizth- Butler< no role > Singlewoman lodging
in the Parish of St. Clement Danes in the County of
Middx Taken the 13th- Day of February 1740 Who upon
her Oath saith yt. upwards of 4 Years ago She lived as a
Yearly hired Servt . with one Mrs. Goodwin in the Parish of
St. Helens in the City of Worcester for the Space of
3 Years and upwards at the yearly Wages of two Pounds & ten
Shillings & hath not since She left her sd. Services rented
ten Pounds a Year paid Parish Taxes lived with any other
Person as a Yearly hired Servant for the Space of one Year
or otherwise gained a Settlement in any other Place to her
knowledge or beleife, And this Examinant further on her
Voluntary Oath saith that She is Pregnant with Child
or Children which when Born will be a Bastard or
Bastards & likely to become Chargeable to the sd. Parish of St.
Clement Danes she being Poor & not able to maintaine the
same when Born And further saith yt. one Mr. Richard
Tisdell
< no role > in the Temple did begett the said Child or
Children on her body She this Examinant at such time
liveing as a Servant with one Mrs. Giles Milliner in Fles [..]
