Whereas the passage Leading out of the Parrish of St Thomas
Southwarke into the Tents was soe narrow that there was not roome
to carry a Corps to Buryall and much lesse to afford convenient
Assistance in case of Fire, And the Tenements on both sides of
that Passage being old darke and ruinous and one of them on the
Southside thereof late in the tenure of Widdow Campion was and for some
time had beene Empty and noe Pson desired to take the same, and the
other on that side was possessed by Francis Starling whoe paid but Twenty
Shillings a year for it and was much behind hand and part of the tenement
on the Northside held by Thomas Bartholomew< no role > being taken away to enlarge
the passage might be Supplyed out of the ground of another old Tenement
late held by Jonas Stickland< no role > deceased which was fallen into our hands
for want of payment of Rent and Fine, whereby there was not only roome
for making a convenient Cart way but alsoe ground to build Two good
Tenements on each side thereof; The Comittee acquainted the Court with
the prmisses and that they had directed and agreed not only the
enlarging the said Way as aforesaid, but alsoe the building of the
said two new tenements as aforesaid at the charge of this house
which was approved and allowed by this Court; And It is ordered
by the Court according to the report of the said Comittee That the
said Thomas Bartholomew< no role > shall enjoye the new erected tenement
in his occupacon on the Northside the said passage for the Terme
of Nine years comencing from Michas last being the Terme
he had in his lease of his former house paying Twenty and two-
shillings P Annu as an increase of Rent to the Rent of Foure and
forty shillings P Ann he paid by that Lease, Soe that now he is to
pay for that new house Three pounds Six shillings P Annu
from Michas next besides Two and twenty Shillings P Ann more for
part of another Tenement late held by Widdow Read And as to the other
new Tenement on the Southside It is refferred to bee lett by the Comitt [..]
for the best advantage of the house; And it is alsoe ordered that
the Kent and Fine charged as in arreares in the accompt on the
said Jonas Stickland< no role > , Francis Starling< no role > and Widdow Campion and
every of them shalbee remitted and expunged out of future Accompt

And It is alsoe ordered according to the report of the said Comittee
That in consideracon of James West< no role > his new building of the
Tenement lying next the West end of the Tenement on the
Southside of the said Passage of as good stanklings materialls and
highes of stories as that of her new Tenement adjoyning and surrender
-ing the Lease he hath of the same with another small Tenement
at the North east end of the said Passage wherein Seaven yeares
wibbe to come of Lady day 1680: under the yearly rent of Thirty
Shillings and paying a Fine of five pounds; there shalbee a new
Lease made to the said James West< no role > of the said tenement soe ne [..]
Erected by him and the said other Tenement for Forty and one
years from Lady day aforesaid at the said old Rent of Thirty Shillings.

Windmill


Anne Staplehurst our Tenant of the Windmill about
Twenty Arces of Land in St: Georges Feilds was a Suiter to renew
her lease thereof there being but Three years to com at Michas last 1679:
But the Court being informed by the Clerke that wee are our Selves but
Tenants for the same from the Bridg house; and that there is but Tenn
years to come in our Lease at Midsomer next The Court did not think
Fitt to treate with the said Mrs. Staplehurst for renewing her lease
