the best Bail would be refused and he sent to Newgate and that would be his
doom: Was brought before Mr Friquet on the Warrant and be desired to be
indulged a Quarter of an Hour to get Bail, but he was sent to Newgate and
paid One Pound Thirteen shillings and four pence; Mr Friquet desired Morris
to go with the Constable and see him safely delivered into Newgate and there
let them know what an unsufferable Fellow he is; that he was taken to
Newgate
and continued there about Twenty four hours Mr Friquet carried,
Commitment against him himself and gave him a Character in the House of
Correction - That Mr Friquet took a Recognizance in

Parties whom he can produce; Upon inspection of the Recognizances it
appeared that they were returned by Mr Blackborow and not by Mr Friquet.
Mr Friquet said he sent him to Newgate else he would have been
discharged without Fees from the other Prisons by Mr. Blackborow:
That Your Committee are persuaded they cannot more
effectually execute the duty imposed upon them by the said Order of
Referrence than by submitting the whole of the Evidence which has been
laid before them and Substantiated by Oath to the Consideration of the Court
and which is contained in this their Report and the Paper marked
(A) hereunto annexed And Your Committee beg leave strongly to
recommend the same as a Subject highly worthy of the Courts most.
