And the said Committee Lastly Report
That upon Examining the State of Bridewell it appears
that there is an Apartment consisting of 2 Rooms occupied by a
person who was appointed by the Court some Years ago to the office
of Matron of the said Prison And that the said Matron has an
annual Allowance of 10l. from the Keeper of New Prison that
the said Matron is of no kind of Use whatever in the said
Prison and that tho: she has been called on to assist Women
who have been delivered in New Prison while under Confineme [..]
she has refused to lend them her aid that from her right under
her appointment of coming to her said apartments with her
Husband at all Hours as well in the Night as in the day
often times great inconveniences arise and the Prison is
thereby rendered less secure being besides additionally expened
to the Hazard of Fire and Mr. Hall having offered to allow
her Two Shillings a Week wherewith to provide herself with a
Lodging during the time he Enjoys his present office of Keeper of
the said Bridewell and her Husband having lately Entered into the
Coal Business The Committee do recommend it to the Court to rescind
the said appointment and allowance of an Apartment to her as
Matron of the said Prison That the said Rooms may be used as
part of the said Prison and that the Court would make such
Order for the said Allowance to her of two Shillings a Week
by Mr. Hall or any other allowance to her by the Keeper of
New Prison as they shall think proper

All which the Committee Submit

A Motion was made that this Court do approve with this
part of the Committee's Report and the same being Resolved
It is Ordered that such part of the said Report as last
abovesaid be Confirmed and the same is hereby Ratified and
Confirmed accordingly and it is further ordered that the said
Committee do continue to Sit under and proceed in the Execution of
the Several Orders of Reference to them given
