papists, or reputed papists, & were refused to have such Licenses
granted them, doe continue to sell Beer & Ale by Reterile
without Licence, & to prevent those that the like
inconveniences fot the future, it is thought fit & ordered
by this Court, That the Clerke of the Peace of this
County, or his Deputy, doe attend the Justices of the
Peace of this County in their severall Divisions, at the
time to be appointed for Renewall of old Licenses, or
granting of new ones to the respective Victuallers in,
such Divisions, & there take in all the old Licences
from the respective Victuallers in such Divisions, and
receive the fees belonging to him, & the Justice Clerks
for granting of new Licences, & that no Clerk to any
Justice of the Peace do receive any Licences or fees,
but that the Clerk of the peace do amount with the
Justices Clerkes for their fees as usuall, That noe
Licences be granted to any new Victuallers on
those days, but the respective Victuallers who
apply for such new Licences, be required to leave
their homes, & the names of their Suretys, with
the Justices of the Peace of that Division, to the end
they may be enabled to inquire into the behaviour
& Character of such Victuallers before any Licence
be granted their That the Clerke of the peace of
this County doe by himself or his Deputy, & not
by his Clerkes keep a Register for Entry of all
Victuallers Licences brought into his Office, & see
that such Licences be duely entred in such
[mark] Register, before they be signed or delivered out by
[mark] him or them to the Cryer of this Court or any
Victuallers that shall desire the same, That all
[mark] Licences be entred in the Register, & delivered out to
the Cryer of this Court within one month after the
time of Generall Renewing, & that the Cryer of
[mark] this Court be oblidged to deliver the same to the
severall Victuallers on or before the first day of
[mark] Easter Sessions in every year, That noe Beadle be
concerned in the delivery thereof to the respective
Victuallers or exact or take any money from such
