Upon Information given to this Court that the Watches within the
Severall parishes hambletts Libertys and precincts in this County
are Sett too late in the night time, and that the Petty Constables
and Headboroughs of the said parish of Hambletts precincts and
Libertys discharged their Watches too early in the morning, and
that severall Carpenters Bricklayers and other Workmen using
Ladders in the day time do leave them carelessly in the Streets &
other places, by means whereof divers Burglarys Felonys and
other mischiefs have been comitted by ill disposed persons in
the said County, Now for the better preservacon of his Majestys
Peace within this County and for preventing any dangers that
may happen for the future by not Keeping sufficient Watches
and by Carpenters and other Workmen leaving their Ladders
not locked up nor secured from being used in the Night
time by ill disposed Persons for evil purposes, It is
thought fit and ordered by this Court that the Petty
Constables and Headboroughs of every parish, hamblett,
precinct and Liberty in this County do forthwith upon
Notice of this order sett and plate in their respective parishes
hambletts Libertyes and precincts Strong and sufficient Watches
and that the same be from henceforth untill Lady day next,
and so from Michaelmas day to Lady day in every Year
duly and constantly sett and continued from Nine of the
Clock in the Evening untill Six of the Clock in the
morning unless the Justices of the peace for this County in
their respective Divisions shall see cause and think fitt
to appoint the said Watches to be sett sooner in the evening
and to continue for longer time in the morning, And that all
Workmen and others useing Ladders do take effectuall
care to secure and lock them up every Night in order to
prevent the Mischiefs aforesaid And that no Carpenters
Bricklayers Builders of Houses or their Workmen or
Servants do leave bricks tyles, mortor earth dirt or other
rubbish in the open Streets or passages in this County or enclose
the highway in such Streets or passages whereby the passage of his
Majestys Subjects may be any ways hindred or incomoded, the
doing whereof is adjudged by this Court to be a great Nusance
And it is further ordered by this Court that the high Constables
