Promise thereof but that the default of the said William Power< no role > was
entirely owing to this Deponents having sent the said William Power< no role > on
such Journey without knowing that he was bound by such Recognizance
as aforesaid And the said Joseph Dermer for himself saith that on or
about the Eighth Day of June last he was bound by Recognizance in the
Sum of Ten pounds before the said Lord Mayor to give Evidence against
the said Thomas Harris< no role > for such Felony at the then next Session to be held for
the City of London and this Deponent saith that one Joseph Bartlett< no role > who
acted as Constable in apprehending the said Thomas Harris< no role > at the time the said
Thomas Harris< no role > was committed for the said Felony promised to give this
Deponent Notice when it would be necessary for him this Deponent to appear to give
Evidence against the said Thomas Harris< no role > And therefore this Deponent saith
that he entirely relied and fully hoped that the said Joseph Bartlett< no role > would
have given him such Notice but saith that the said Joseph Bartlett< no role >
neglected to perform his promise and did not give this Deponent any Notice
whatsoever and on the account this Deponent did not attend at the said
Session to give his Evidence against the said Thomas Harris< no role > by Means
whereof this Deponents said Recognizance became forfeited And lastley
this Deponent saith he Meant and intended to have appeared to give
Evidence against the said Thomas Harris< no role > in base the said Joseph
Bartlett had given him such Notice and that such his Default was not
Occasioned through any Favour or Affection towards the said Thomas
Harris or for any reward or hope or promise thereof.
