having in or about, the Month of February
last been detected in stealing Pewter Pots from the several Houses of James
Swinerton< no role >
Edward Coles< no role >
& William Hales< no role >
Victuallers
he this Deponent
who then was a Constable for the Parish aforesd. was applied to & did take
Charge of the sd Ann Brown< no role >
for the Offence aforesd: & in pursuance
thereof carried the sd. Ann Brown< no role >
before the Worshipful Joseph Girdler< no role >
Esqr
: one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace
for the County of Middx
& this Dept. has been Informed & verily bel it will appear that in
Consequence of the sd: Commitment the sd. Ann Brown< no role >
was prosecuted
for & convicted of the sd. Offence at the Sessions held at the old Baily
in the Month of February last & that in Pursuance of such
Conviction the said Ann Brown< no role >
has surce been transported
And this Dept. further saith he hath lately Reced aNoticefrom
Mr. Reynolds the Clerk of the Peace
for the City of London
Purporting that this
Depts. Recognizance for not appearing on the Tryal of & to give
Evidence agt. the sd. Ann Brown< no role >
is become Forfeited & that unless
this Dept. wod. Pay the Sum of Two Guineas to the sd. Mr. Reynolds
this Dept. sd. Recognizance wod be Estreated into his Majesty's
Court of Excheguer And this Dept further saith that he wod.
most certainly have Attended the sd. Tryal of the sd. Ann Brown< no role >
in Discharge of his this Dept duty as a Constable but for
the Reason of his this Dept: then being confined to his
Bed by Violent Sickness in so much that it was not in this
Dept. Power to Attend the sd. Tryal
