< no role > of Thomas Street London Stationers severally make Oath and
first the said John Briggs< no role > for himself saith that it appears to this Deponent
that William Power< no role > apprentice to this Deponent was on or about the Eighth Day
of June last past bound by Recognizance in the Sum of Ten
Pounds before the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of this City to give
Evidence against Thomas Harris< no role > for Stealing a Quantity of Blue the
Property of One James Osborne< no role > at the then next Session to be held for the City of
London and this Deponent further saith that the said William Power< no role > having
acted as Rider to this Deponent in the County among this Deponents
Customers in his said Business was appointed by this Deponent to perform
a Journey for this Deponent into the Counties of Gloucester Worcester Lancaster
York and Chester and other places as he this Deponent did not know that the
said William Power< no role > was bound by such Recognizance as aforesaid And this
Deponent further saith that the said William Power< no role > in Pursuance of such
Appointment of this Deponent set off from London upon his said Journey on
or about the Tenth Day of July now that past and did not acquaint this Deponent that he was bound by such Recognizance and did not return to London till
on or about the latter And of August last And this Deponent further saith
that he hath been Informed and verily believes that a Session of Goal Delivery of
Newgate for the City of London was held on or about the Fifteenth Day of July
last and for want of the said William Power< no role > appearing to give Evidence
against the said Thomas Harris< no role > the said Recognizance became forfeited
And this Deponent further saith that the said William Paveron< no role > or about
the Eighth Day of October Instant set off from London on another Journey
for this Deponent in his said Business and is not yet returned to London and
that Notice of such Recognizance being forfeited was left for the said William
Power at this Deponents House on the Twelfth Day of October Instant And
this Deponent further saith that he verily believes that the said William Power< no role >
did not neglect to give Evidence against the said Thomas Harris< no role > through
any Favour or Affection towards him or for any Reward or hope or
