The Information of Joseph Jon of No. 33 Nightingale Lane in the
Parish of Saint Botolph Aldgate in the said County Victualler Richard
Rushby

Charles Potts< no role > of No. 16 Cartwright Square in the said Parish and County Marine
and Peter Mayne< no role > of Hats's Square East Smithfield in the Parish of Saint John
of Wapping in the said County Labourer Taken upon Oath before me Robert
Smith
< no role > Esquire one of his Majestys Justices of the Peace in and for the said
County this Twenty fifth day of August 1789.

First the said Joseph Jon< no role > for himself Saith That on Friday last
about Six oClock the Evening the Prisoner (who says his Name is
Nicholas Rogers< no role > ) in Company with two other Persons came into his House and called for
a print of peter that he desired his Servant to draw itandthat in about
half an hour afterwards this Deponent went into the Tap Room and was
Informed by Rushby that a Man in a light coloured Coat was gone up
Stairs that he turned towards the Stairs and See Prisoner Comming down
that Prisoner turned down the Passage towards the Back Room where
they were drinkings that this Deponent went up Stairs and found three
Watches and two pair of Cases had been Taken away he then ran down
Stairs when his Wife Called to him and said he is out that he ran
out and called out Stop thief that Charles Potts< no role > Stoped the Prisoner
that Peter Mayne< no role > came up and [..] Searched him and found [..] in his possession
three Watches and two pair of Cases which are his Property and are of
the Value of three PoundRichard Rewhby< no role > for himself says
on Friday lastaboutbetween Six and Seven oClock in the Evening
he was in Mr. Jon's< no role > Tap Room and See the Prisoners go up [..] Stairs
that he was gone up about Ten Minute before he mentioned it to Mr. Jon that
he asked him if he had any Company Backwards he said no Except two or
three Gentleman that he told Mr. Jon a Man in a light coloured coat was gone up Stairs and
had been there some time that he as to Doubt but that Prisoner is the
same Man he saw go up StairsCharles Potts< no role > for himself Says
on Friday last about seven oClock in the Evening he was comming up
Nightingale Lane he heard a Cry of Stop Thief that seeing Prisoner running
before several people he ran Up and Stoped himPeter Mayne< no role >
says on Friday last about Seven oClock in the Evening he saw the Prisoner
running and Mr. Jon Crying Stop thief that he saw Mr. Potto Stop him that he
came up SEarched Prisoner and found in his Possession the Watches and Cases five
Keys and one picklock now produced
