The Information of Charles Wales< no role >
taken upon Oath before me Wm. Blackborow< no role > Esqr .
One of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace in
and for the said County this 30th. day of
March 1786 .

This Informant upon his Oath saith that on Tuesday
last the 28th. day of March instant at about the hour of Six of
the clock in the Evening He this Informant was in Smithfield
near to the Bear and Ragged staff Inn and perceived the
Prisoner John Clemmenson< no role > pass him with the parcel now
produced in his Arms before him and in a short time
After a Bag followed calling out Stop Thief upon which
a Man with a large stick went up to the boy and pushed
him down This Informant then Suspected that the said
John Clemmenson< no role > who had passed by with the parcel as
aforesaid was the Thief and immediately pursued him
and saw him turn the Corner of Green hills Rents and
then lost sight of him until he was in the hands of the
Constable but the parcel was dropt in Green hills
Rents aforesaid near to a Bakers And this Informt
further saith that he should have taken the said John
Clemmenson
< no role > but was intimidated and prevented
by several persons whom this Informant believes were
his Accomplices.
