The Information of Leake Rogers< no role > of
No 3 Great Wild Street in the County of
Middlesex Hatter taken before me this
28th day of March 1786

Who being upon Oath saith that he hath known
William Anstead< no role > now present about five Months that about 7 o Clock
in the Morning on Sunday the 25th day of December last this
Informant being in his bed in the black parlour of his said House
he was alarmed by the cry of some of his Lodgers, and upon opening
the Door which leads into the passage of his House he saw three
Men go out with Loads upon their Shoulderswhich Loads then
appeared to this Informant to be Lead and is very sure that it was Leadthat he is very sure
that the last Man of the three was the Prisoner and behind him
was his Wife and upon this Informants asking what the Devil
do you do there his Wife replyd that they were only going to
Prayersafter which nothing further partthat about 12 o Clock
next day this Informant went to the top of his House when he
discovered that a considerable Quantity of Lead had been taken
away amounting as he believes to about Three Hundred weight
and about Four hundred weight cut and rolld up ready to be taken away
that he is very sure the Prisoner is the last Man of the three who went
out his Passage on said Sunday Morning with Loads upon their
Shoulders and therefore doth suspect and believe that he was privy
to and concerned in Stealing his said Lead
