taken upon Oath
before me this 26th. day of April 1786
Who being duly Sworn upon his Oath saith that on the
4th. day of February last about six o' Clock in the Evening
this Informant met the Prisoner who Saith her name is
Elizabeth Burkett< no role >
in Saint James Park
after some
Conversation this Informant Agreed to go with her to her
lodging in Duck Lane
where they went to bed together
when he laid his Breeches upon a Chair by the pot of the Bedbed side
and his hat on a table that he put a double Cased Gold
Watch into his hat a few Minutes after he was in bed the
said Elizabeth Barkett< no role >
Pretending to get a fresh Candle that
which was burning being almost out and called at the door
for somebody to bring one up but receiving no Answer she
returned to the foot of the bed where the table was and near
to which this Informants Breeches lay when this Informant
Saw her take his Gold Watch out of the hat and Immediately
run down Stairs with it he got up directly and Pursued
her but did not get sight of her, and in going down Stairs
found his Breeches had been draped on Searching the
Pockets thereof he missed Six Shillings and six pence which
had been taken out of one of the Pockets, and this Informant
further Saith that he is Possitive and Certain that the
