By the Calendar of the Prisoners there appeared to be

Report of Prison
Sub Committee
respectd. the Misconduct
of Superintendant.
whom they had suspendedReceived a Report of the Prison Sub Committee of Thursday
the 31st: July last in the following words "The Committee having
"been informed that the Superintendant of the Prisons had not
"complied with the directions of the Committee of the 9th. Inst.
"and it appearing from the Examination of the Porter Beadles
"and Porters man this day that he had been extremely negligent
"in his duty since the last Committee/that the Prisoners had
"been frequently unemployed, that some of them had been permitted
"by him to leave the Prison and go into his own Apartments it
"also further appearing that he had permitted Liquor to be taken
"into the Prisons and that he had borrowed to the amount of 5
"Guineas each, of Lawrence Bullock< no role > and William Smith< no role > otherwise
"Harley< no role > two of the Prisoners Committed under the Lottery Act [..]
"during their imprisonment. The Committee therefore called in John
"Gearing and having Examined him as to the charges which he
acknowledged to be true.

"Resolved that he be Suspended until the next Prison
"Committee in August and that in the mean time the Porter and
"Porters man do take care and see that the Prisoners are properly
