Continued Thursday 29th. November 1792 .

Whereupon the Committee had appointed John Gearing< no role > to that place (during the pleasure of the
Court) with a Salary of 18s. a week that he be allowed two Rooms for his Apartments
that he be not permitted to follow any other employment that he reside constantly in
the Hospital and give up the whole of his time to the superintendance of the Prisoners
and that he shall not receive any Fee emolument or profit whatever over and above
his Weekly Wages.

That the Committee had taken into consideration the reference from the General Court
respecting the Artsmasters and Apprentices and having called in the several
Artsmasters they were informed the Court had resolved upon an alteration in the
institution and that their premises should be resumed by the Hospital and the
Artsmasters were desired to be prepared with their answers against the next Committee
as to the terms on which they were willing to quit their apartments at Midsummer
next taking their Apprentices with them.

And that the Committee were of opinion that a written notice should be sent to each of the
Artsmasters to acquaint them with the determination of the General Court to resume the
whole of the premises now occupied by them and that the Committee should be
empowered by the Court to treat with those Artsmasters whose Apartments might be
immediately wanted for carrying into execution the proposed reform of the Prisons.

The several Minutes of the Bethlem Committee of the 27th. September and the 22nd. November were
then read whereby it appeared that after proper Advertizements they had contracted with
Thomas Dalby< no role > to supply the Hospital with Beef Mutton Veal and Pork from Michaelmas
next to Lady Day at 3 shillings per Stone his being the only offer.

And that the Committee after much deliberation had unanimously resolved that it would be
adviseable to repair the Hospital in a substantial manner and not to rebuild it: That in
consequence of this resolution they had directed the Surveyor to make a particular Estimate
of the several repairs necessary to be done that they had likewise ordered Mr. Alexander
to send in the remainder of the Oak Boards agreeable to his contract and upon making
an allowance for the defects in those now in th Hospital which have been refused by the
Surveyor that the same be taken on account of the Hospital.

The Minutes of the Committee of Auditors of the 26th. September were then read whereby it
appeared that they had Audited the accounts of both Hospitals from Christmas last to
that time and found the following sums were then in the hands of the several Officers Vizt
