Order to be
altered

Wee having Taken into our Consideration an order made by the
Generall Court in the year one Thousand Six Hundred & Seventy
Seven whereby 'tis Ordered That no Governors of this House (whilst
a Governor ) by himselfe or any other for him directly or indirectly
should Take any Lease of any of the Lands or Houses of this Hospitall
And wee observing that since the makeing of that Order the number
of Governors is very greatly increased And that severall Gentlemen
who were then or afterwards became Tennants to this Hospitall
have been since Chosen Governors thereof And Severall Leases
held by them being near Expireing They are justly Intituled to Treat
for the Renewall thereof And in Case such Governors should be
Excluded from Treating for the same It would not only be prjudicial
and Injurious to the Rights but might be also detrimentall to
this Hospitall Wee are therefore of opinion That that Order ought
to be altered and Explained And humbly recomend it to this Court
That for the future only such Gentlemen as shall be of the Grand
Comittee shall be Excluded from Treating for or Takeing Leases of
Houses or Lands belonging to this Hospitall during such Time as
they are of the said Comittee
