Lands at
Alvethley
Viewed
& Mr Collyer
Case Considered.
& Reported

Pursuant to the direccons of the said Generall Court of ye
fifteenth day of December 1708 Wee have Caused a view to be made
of the Lands belonging to this Hospitall at Alvethley in Essex held
by Lease by Mr: Henry Collyer< no role > and have Considered of the Allegations
of his peticon prsented to that Court which was then referred to
our Exaiacon and do humbly Report what we have observed on ye
said view within Opinions upon his peticon & Case as followeth
vizt:

Wee find that ye said Henry Collyer< no role > in the Year 1703 made an Inset
or new wall to the Hospitall Marsh Ground in Alvethley near Purfleet
point without any notice Given to the Governors of this Hospitall
and having left about Ten or Twelve Acres of the Marsh Ground
between this New wall and the old wall net the Thames, which he
intended for a Foreland to ye new wall He Suffered the old wall to
wash away and the same is now almost wholly destroyed so that ye
water every Tide doth overflow the remaines of the said old wall and
also the said Ten or Twelve acres of Marsh ground and hath done so
for Two or Three years past

But the Foot or Foundacon of the said old wall being Strengthned
by Severall rows or Teeres of Pyles & Chalke doth as yet Secure & ptect
the said Ten or Twelve Acres of Marsh Ground so left between the said
walls from the force of the River and we observe that a Great
Quantity of Slid hath Lodged and Setled on the said Marsh Ground
between the said walls and are of opinion that the same will still
increase and that the said Ten or Twelve Acres of Marsh Ground
may in Time become a Good Foreland to the said new wall in Cass
the Foundacon of the said old wall be prserved But we are of
Opinion that if the Foundacon of the said old wall should be Slighted
and not kept in such repaire for some years to come as may be
sufficient to prserve the said intended Fore land and the Slud lodgeing
thereupon from being washed away by he Streame the said now
wall may be greatly endangered.

Wee have Considered the Severall Allegacons in the said Mr: Collyers
peticon and the Pticulars of his Charges and Disbursements
annexed thereunto
