The Information of John William Jones< no role > who lives with his Father
Thomas Jones< no role > Ratcliff Highway St. George Middlesex Chymist
taken this 26th. day of May 1786
Who being on Oath says This Morning between the Hours of Two and Three as
he was going from the said Highway to New Gravel Lane Shadwell in passing
through Elbow Lane Shadwell he was attached by the Prisoner present
who says his Name is Thomas Stone< no role > by seizing him by the Waist and
asking what Business he had there says he endeavouring to make him
lose his hold. he knocked him down took his Hat from his head and
run away with it That this Informant called out Watch but no
Person came to his Assistance-The said Thomas Stone< no role > returned and
again knocked him down and Kicked him-That continuing to call out
for help he left him having in the Scuffee dropt the [..] hat he had taken which he
kicked before him-but by pursuing and calling out watch he left the said hat
behind him-That his calling Watch Three Watchman came to his Assistance
he saw [..] him go into the House of Mary Mathews< no role > of Elbow Lane aforesaid
and was present at the Apprehending of the said Thomas Says in a Necessary next Door to the said Mary Mathews< no role >
William Dennet< no role > at No. 2 West Gardens Shadewell Watchman Says this Morning
as he was beating the Time of half past Two o Clock then being near Elbow Lane he heard the said John William
Jones
< no role > calling out Stop him That John Orange< no role > came to their Assistance and by
the Direction of the said John William Jones< no role > they went to the said house and demanded
entrance which was refused but The said John Orange< no role > Threataing to treat Open
the Door it was Opened That they went into the Back Yard of said house and found
that the said Thomas Stone< no role > had got over the pails of the said Yard into another Yard
Bedining where they found him in the Necessary
John Orange< no role > Says this Morning as he was inted in Elbow Lane between the Hours of Two and Three he
heard the alarm of Watch and Stop thief that he got up and when he got into the
Lane he saw John William Jones< no role > , William Dennit and Two other Watchmen
at the Door of the said Mary Mathews< no role > That said Jones told him he had been
robbed and that the man had men into that house The Watchman telling him
they refused to open the Door he called to them when they opened it Says he
[..] went into the Yard and Observing the Door of the Necessary in the next Yard to move
he and the said Jones got Over and there found Thomas Stone< no role > who the said John William Jones< no role > charged
with robbing him of his hat
