taken before me this 24th. Day of
May 1784.
Who being on Oath say and first the said Blackburn Clark says
that he is a Soldier in the Guards and was a Continue at the
Opera-house
on Saturday night the 8th. Instant. That he observed
James Napier< no role >
now present walk up to The Honble. Mrs. Hobart
as she was coming out of the Opera-house
and lay hold of her
right Ear, whereupon said Mrs Hobart screamed out and said
"Her Ear-ring was goneThat Mr. Laseeths and this
Informant secured said Napier and this Informant and
others took him to Saint James's Watch-house
And the
said Ann Platfeet says that her Husband in Keeper of Saint
James's Watch house

now present was
brought to said Watch-house
on said Saturday Evening by the
said Blackburn Clark and David Miles< no role >
a Constable. That the next
Day (Sunday) in the Morning a Man came in and wanted to
speak to his FriendThat she permitted said Man to go below
stairs Where said Napier and another Prisoner were That
in a few minutes said Man and two Prisoners rushed up Armed,
when said Napier who was armed with a Chizzet, came up
to her and said to her "You Bitch if you resist I will Kill
Ye" and after repeating the same Words two or three times,
ran awayas did the other two.
