The Information of Margaret Wiley< no role > Servant to
Mr. Clark of Southampton Street Covent Garden ,
John Waddie< no role > one of the Watchmen of the parish
of Saint Paul Covent Garden & William Smith< no role >
one of the Watchmen of the said Parish of Saint
Paul Covent Garden taken before me this 1st.
day of May 1784

Who being upon Oath says and first the said Margaret
Wiley
< no role > says, that last Night about half past 10 oClock as she
was crossing Southampton Street Covent Garden several persons
rushed against her, one of whom Matched from under her
Arm a Quantity of Gauze and Ribbon now produced, the
property of Charlotte Jones< no role > now present; and further says she
doth verily believe that a person now present who calls himself
Thomas Watts< no role > , is one of the persons concerned in rewhing against
and robbing her as aforesaidAnd the said John Waddie< no role > says,
that he last Night heard the Cry of "Stop Thief" and soon afterwards
saw said Thomas Watts< no role > drop the said Gauze and Ribbon in
Southampton Street aforesaid as he was running along
And the said William Smith< no role > says that he heard the Cry of "Stop
Thief" and seeing said Thomas Watts< no role > running away he pursued
him into York Street Covent Garden where he apprehended him
