before me this 17th. day of October 1783.
Who being on Oath same that this Afternoon between 3 and 4
o'Clock, two persons now present who calls themselves Martha
Martin< no role >
and Ann Taylor< no role >
came into his Master's Shop together
That they desired to took at some Made which he shewed them;
and One Yard of which they bought and paid for together with five
Nails of Persian, That whilst this Informant Stopped a ride to
fetch the Yard, he thought he observed the said Martin conceal
Something but what he could not tell That when they had
left the shop he communicated his Suspicions to his Master
who proposed bringing them back That this Informant and his
said Master accordingly went after them and brought them back,
and upon their being told that they ever suspected of having taken
something, the said Martin put the Piece of Calimanco now
produced (the Property of his said Master) down upon the
Compter.
