Examination TextMary Carpenter aged about 38 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish St. Paul Covent Garden upon her oath saith that she is the widow of John Carpenter (who has been dead about five years) to whom she was married the ffleet about 23 years ago, that he was born in Ireland and that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together in England as she this Examinant has heard her said husband say, that she this Examinant was born in Durham Yard in the Strand in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid, that she never kept house bound an apprentice rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together before her intermarriage or since the death of her said husband, but that her Father Daniel Jull was a Fruiterer by trade and lived in and rented an house in Charles Court in the Strand in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of 17 years at the yearly rent of 16 pounds besides taxes and there died which is about 30 years ago. Taken in the workhouse the 13th Day of December 1749.
