Examination TextSarah Dowen aged 43 years and upwards in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the wife of Simon Dowen (gone from her about two months) to whom she was married at Godmanchester in the County of Huntingdon about 16 years ago, that he was born in Scotland as she hath heard her said husband say but the particular place she can't tell, that he is a Gardiner and learnt the same in Scotland, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together in England, that she this Examinant was born in Ireland, that she has two children by her said husband to wit Catherine aged 12 years and upwards and John, born in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid the sixth Day of November instant. Taken in the workhouse of 12th day of November 1750.
