Examination TextMary Hopthrow aged 40 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. James within the liberty of Westminster upon her oath saith that she never was married bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that her father Richard Hopthrow (who has been dead about 32 years) was an Ingraver by trade and lived in and rented an house in Orange Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid, but how long he kept the said house what rent he paid or when quitted it she this Examinant can't tell, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year or paid any parish taxes after. Sworn the second Day of December 1751 before James Fraser.
