Examination TextWilliam Brown aged 40 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Andrew Holborn above the Bars in the County of Middlesex saith that he was born in that part of Burleigh Street which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid, that he never was bound an apprentice kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that his father James Brown (who has been dead nine years) was born in the County of Oxford, but the particular place he this Examinant can't tell, that he never was bound an apprentice kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together to this Examinant's knowledge, that he this Examinant was married to his present wife Mary at the ffleet 22 years ago by whom he hath one child living to wit Francis aged 12 years and upwards. Sworn the first Day of December 1751 before James Fraser.
