Examination TextThe Examination of Ann Aislabie singlewoman in the workhouse of and in the Parish St Martin in the Fields taken upon oath this [blank] Day of [blank] 1751. This Examinant upon her oath saith that she is 23 years of age and never was married bound an apprentice kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes, but that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Newman in Cecil Street in the Parish aforesaid for the space of two years and an half at the yearly wages of 5 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about 23 months ago and hath not been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, And this Examinant upon her voluntary oath further saith that she was on the 14th Day of December last delivered of a female bastard child (since christened [blank]) in the workhouse aforesaid yet living and become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that John Parish an Upholsterer in St Albans Street Pall Mall had carnal knowledge of her body in the middle of the month of April last upon a bed in the back parlour of and in the house of the said John Parish in St Albans Street aforesaid and several times afterwards in different parts of the aforesaid house of the said John Parish at which or one of which times he the said John Parish did beget on her body the said female bastard Child, and that he the said John Parish is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
