Examination TextAnn Coates aged 16 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed as a vagrant from the Parish of St. George Southwark in the County of Surry upon her oath saith that she never was married bound an apprentice kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that her mother (since the death of this Examinant's father) lived in and rented an house in Bedfordbury in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of two years at the yearly rent of £18 besides taxes, quitted the same about 18 months ago, that her said Mother hath not kept house rented 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since. Sworn the 22nd Day of November 1757 before Thomas Kynaston.
