Examination Text | Jane Shotton aged 28 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. George Hanover Square within the liberty of Westminster upon her oath saith that she never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Wright (Deputy Surveyor to the Board of Works) in that part of Scotland Yard which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of one year and nine months at the yearly wages of 7 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same in August 1764, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, that she this Examinant was on the 28th day of July last delivered at the house of Mrs Wootton at the Ducking Pond, May Fair in the Parish of St. George Hanover Square within the liberty of Westminster of a Male bastard child (since christened Samuel) yet living and is become chargeable to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid.
