Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Neal passed from the Parish of St Anne within the liberty of Westminster to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields in the same liberty taken upon oath this 27th Day of September 1766. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 24 years of age and upwards, that she never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Sarah Rose a Victualler at the sign of the Porcupine that corner of Castle Street and Newport Street which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of 16 months at the yearly wages of 5 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same last Tuesday, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath saith further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that George Jacques a Painter lodging in the Porcupine aforesaid had carnal knowledge of her body in the month of December last in and upon a bed in the fore Garrett at the house of Mrs Rose's aforesaid and several times afterwards in the same place at which or one of which times he the said George Jacques did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said George Jacques is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Thomas Kynaston.
