Examination TextThe Examination of Elizabeth wife of William Lisle lodging at Mrs Hayes a Milliner in Cranborne Alley in the Parish of St Anne within the liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex taken on oath this 10th day of September 1772. This Examinant saith that Sarah Lisle aged about one year and five months (in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields) passed from the Parish of St Anne aforesaid is the true and lawful issue of Richard Lisle by Ann his wife (both absconded), which said Richard Lisle was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Mr Charles Salmon of Mays Buildings in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, Carver and Gilder, and there served his said Master all the said term which expired about [blank], that he never did any other act to gain a subsequent settlement to this Examinant's knowledge, that the said Richard Lisle was married to his present wife at the Parish Church of St Pancras in the County of Middlesex the 25th of June 1770. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Thomas Kynaston.
