Examination TextThe Examination of Sarah Valentine passed from the Parish of St Clement Danes to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken upon oath this 11th Day of September 1772. This Examinant saith that she is 33 years of age, that she is the widow of George Valentine (who died the 26th July last) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of St Clement Danes the 17th August 1761, that her said husband hath informed this Examinant that he was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Mr Jones a Taylor opposite Charles Court in St Martin's Lane in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and there served his said Master all the said term, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together after the expiration of his said apprenticeship, that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since the death of her said husband, that she hath three children by her said husband to wit Susannah aged six years and upwards, George aged three years and upwards, and Mary aged 16 months all now passed with this Examinant.
