Examination TextThe Examination of Abraham Johnson in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. Mary White Chapel in the County of Middlesex taken this 10th day of August 1772. This Examinant on his oath saith that he is 40 years of age, that he was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Mr Nowell an Horse Hair Button Weaver in that part of Burleigh Street which is in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served his said Master about four years, and then parted with consent of his said Master, that he never was assigned over to any person kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since he quitted his said Master's service, that he was married to his present wife at the Parish Church of St. Mary White Chapel about three years ago by whom he hath two children to wit Mary aged three years and Ann aged about four months both now with this Examinant. Sworn the day and year above written before J. Treslove.
