Examination TextThe Examination of Sarah Turnbull in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St James within the liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex taken this 13th Day of August 1772. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 31 years of age, that she is the wife of James Turnbull (gone from her) to who was born in that part of Great Britain called Scotland, that he never was bound apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant for 12 months together in any one place in England, that she this Examinant never was bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that her father Robert Jackson was a Jeweller by trade and lived in and rented an house in that part of Burleigh Street which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of five years or thereabouts at the yearly rent of 36 pounds besides taxes, and that her father died in the occupation of the said house about 14 years ago, that she this Examinant was married to her said husband at the Parish Church of St. James Westminster the eighth of August 1760 or 1761. Sworn the Day and year abovesaid before Charles Marsh.
