Examination TextThe Examination of Elizabeth Highlant passed as a vagrant from the Parish of St. James within the liberty of Westminster to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields in the said liberty taken this 11th Day of August 1774. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 21 years of age, that she never was married bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that her father James Highlant was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Mr Byrne a Peruke Maker in Suffolk Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid and there served the said term out, that her father never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place since the expiration of his said apprenticeship. Taken the workhouse the day and year above written.
