Examination TextThe Examination of Jane Stanbridge lodging with Mrs Kay in Dawson's Alley in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields within the liberty and County aforesaid taken upon oath this 26th Day of October 1772. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 19 years of age, that she never was married bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that she was born in Cross Lane in the Parish aforesaid as she this Examinant hath been informed and verily believes, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that David Robinson a Carter at Mr Hammond's Brewhouse in Castle Street in the Parish aforesaid had carnal knowledge of her body in and upon a bed in a room up two pair of stairs at the house of Mrs Hughes in Castle Street aforesaid the latter end of the month of May or the beginning of the month of June last, and several times after in the same place at which or one of which times he the said David Robinson did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said David Robinson is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
