Examination TextHannah Colwell aged about twenty eight years (in the workhouse) Saith that she is the wife of one James Colwell who hath been gone into the County to raise recruits for the Regiment intended to be raised for the Colony of Georgia ever since the Middle of September last to whom she was marryed in Bride Lane Court in the Libertys of the ffleet five years ago in August last that he hath informed her he was born in Scotland and was brought up to the Linnen Trade there but never was an Apprentice yearly hired Servant or Housekeeper in England that he was a Soldier several years before she marryed him and at the time of his going away as aforesaid was a Soldier in Captain Little's Company in the first Regiment of ffoot Guards that she this Examinant was bound an Apprentice by Indenture for seven years to one Mrs Standin a plainsworkwoman at that time lodging at the House now of Mr Wm Webb in the Strand Brushmaker where she served her abt two years and from thence her sd Mistress removed into other lodgings in Durham Yard and in two different Lodgings there she this Examinant served her about three years more and from thence she removed to Mr Hallys a Watchmaker agt Salisbury Street in the Strand where she served all the Remainder of seven years Apprenticeship & lodged and boarded with her said Mistress at all her aforesaid Lodging that her Time expired in August in the year 1728 since which she never kept house rented ten pounds by the year paid any parish Taxes or was a yearly hired Servant the Space of an entire Year to any one person hath no Child by him Sworn the 26th Day of January 1737 Before
