Examination TextThe Examination of Elizabeth Taylor Singlewoman taken upon Oath this Day of 1737 Who upon her Voluntary Oath Saith that she is twenty five years old that she never was marryed that on Wednesday the Day of she was delivered of a male bastard child (since christened David) in the Workhouse of and in the parish of St Martin in the ffields in the Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex &yet living and become chargeable unto the said parish and that one David Williams a Surgeon had the Carnal knowledge of her Body at one Mr Water's a publick House in Water Lane in ffleet Street London Sometime in or about the month of April last past in the Room one pair of Stairs over the Kitchen of the said House at one of which Times he begot on her Body the said Male Bastard Child And that he the said David Williams is the true and only ffather thereof and no Man else
